.It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Karen M. Smith, which occurred on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Karen was the spark in our family and will be missed by many. The Smith family was unprepared for this unexpected loss. Karen has touched the lives of so many and it is our turn to give back to her by celebrating her life. Karen, 65, was born on April 7, 1956 to James and Mary Emma Smith and reared in Philadelphia, PA. She also called Union, SC home. She was educated in the Catholic School System. Karen was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Smith-Sabree. She leaves to cherish fond memories: Her mother; Mary Emma Smith and father; James Smith. Also, one son and daughter-in- law, Rahgeem (Latrina) Smith, and one daughter; Keesha Smith. Six grandchildren: Kiah, Ajah, Imaine Littlejohn,Shykeem Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Kyhiem Smith, Keyonna Williams, Khalil Smith. One God-son, Hezekiah Anaya. One brother: Michael Smith. Three sisters: Sheryl (Kurt) Forsey, Delores Smith, and Bonnie Clark and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Karen was passionate about the needs of others. The word “No” was not in her vocabulary. We lost a special one with Karen. She loved unconditionally and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that Karen is at peace surrounded by light Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Divine Mortuary. 190 Lovers Lane Road, Union, SC from noon until 6:00 P.M Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. at 324 Minnow Bridge Road, Union, SC (Cross Keys Community). In the event of inclement weather, the funeral will be held at Divine Mortuary Chapel, 190 Lovers Lane Road, Union, SC and interment in New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery. The family is at the home of her parents, 147 Minnow Bridge Road, Union, SC, 147 Minnow Bridge Road, Union, SC (Cross Keys Community.) Professional arrangements entrusted to Divine Mortuary, Union, SC.
